The educational text is purposely written in the first person (i.e. “I eat good food. Good food helps me stay well.”) to underscore the overarching message to toddlers that they are the key to maintaining their own safety, well-being, and happiness.

And that’s why all 28 cherished TEACH ME ABOUT books are OUR MOST WELCOME BABY GIFTS!

Scrolling from top to bottom, the order of the TEACH ME ABOUT titles below reflects the developmental growth of toddlers that progresses from Body Awareness to Personal Survival and Growth to Social Awareness.

A MESSAGE FROM JOY

My initial training pertained to children 6 to 12 years old. Any age below or above that age range was beyond my area of expertise. But then I had an opportunity to start a preschool—which prompted me to get an administrative credential and a master’s degree in human development. That was when I was first exposed to the notion that “babies have brains” and are capable of learning self-improvement information that applied to their everyday lives.

It began with a self-help book that I created for toddlers about bathtime. I read the book to several two and three year-olds while their parents looked on. The next day, the parents reported that their children applied some portion of the book to bathtime the night before. For example, two children “tested the water” before getting into it, one child sat down in the tub for the first time, etc.

At that point, I was inspired to apply what I had learned from my years of creating self-help books for older kids to creating self-help books for toddlers. The end result was the 28 Teach Me About self-help books for 1 – 3-year-olds.

THE CLASSIC STATUS OF THE TEACH ME ABOUT BOOKS

The TEACH ME ABOUT books are a part of the collection of kids’ self-help books and other materials called THE JOY BERRY CLASSICS.

The purpose of the JOY BERRY CLASSICS is to help children, from the beginning of their lives through pre-adolescence, become responsible:

for themselves,
in their relationships with others, and
in the way that they relate to the things in their environment.

The classic look and feel of the TEACH ME ABOUT books is due to the restoration of the vintage artwork from the original publications that is now featured in the current TEACH ME ABOUT books.

THE PURPOSE

The 28 TEACH ME ABOUT books begin the transfer of responsibility from the parent to the child.

The process of assuming responsibility for one’s own life needs to begin as early as possible. Sharing the TEACH ME ABOUT books with a toddler can be the first important step to transferring the responsibility for a child’s life from the parent to the child. Written in the first person, these books are designed to teach toddlers exactly how to respond in responsible ways to the people, things, and events that they encounter in their daily lives.

THE GUIDELINES FOR USE
